What will your typical week consist of?

  • 80% of your time will be spent innovating machinery on your CAD station
  • 20% of your time will be split between design reviews, customer meetings, and consulting with your project team

What you’ll learn:

  • Latest technological advancements in automation and related industries.
  • Robotics, laser technologies, tracking, testing, vision, high speed assembly, and much more.
  • Solidworks, PTC Creo/Pro-Engineer, NX, and other CAD software.
  • We offer different programs and training such as tuition reimbursement and apprenticeship programs to help you embark on new opportunities at JR.

Who you’ll work with:

  • Customers, Controls Engineers, all levels of management, Machine Builders, Electricians, Vendors, and Suppliers.

Who you’ll report to:

  • Mechanical Engineer Manager

What to know coming in:

  • 3-6 years related experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD or Pro-Engineering.
  • Willing to travel up to 20%; domestic and international travel.
  • Proven ability to design custom machinery with an emphasis in automation equipment.


  • Present to customers and employees within the organization
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external vendors
  • Develop and fully design equipment, layouts, and subassemblies
  • Ensure that equipment is designed to customer and/or JR Automation build specifications using standard techniques and approach.
  • Take project assignment and direction from Mechanical Engineering Managers

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or 3+ years’ mechanical design experience preferably in the automation industry.
  • Proven experience putting together comprehensive design packages.
  • 3+ years working experience with 3D CAD software, Pro-E/Creo preferred
