Lead Machinist

What will your typical week consist of?

Responsible for the direct supervision of others as assigned.
Responsible to assist the Machining and Fabrication Manager with the execution of ISOQuality standards.
Lead and assists other machinists and apprentices with the execution of the build process.
Interact with Design Engineering team and contribute to Design Reviews as defined within the Engineering Scroll and other technical design activities. 
Communicate to the Machining and Fabrication Manager and Project Manager(s) the relative points in the build process.
Responsible to assist the Machining and Fabrication Manager with the supervision of indirect and overtime hours as they relate to workload, budget, and timing.
Responsible to assist the Machining and Fabrication Manager with the successful management of assigned programs as they relate to cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.
Set up and operate machine tools such as mills, lathes, grinders, and drill press.
Read blueprints and machines metallic and nonmetallic parts to specified tolerances.
Regulate and calculate machining factors such as speeds, feeds, depth, and angle of cut.
Retrieve, edit, and program computerized machine control media.

Responsible to assist the Machining and Fabrication Manager in developing the machinist team through leadership, experience, positive attitude, encouragement, and training, striving to achieve the highest level of quality and performance from each team member as it relates to their individual ability.
Responsible to display and promote a teamwork culture within the machinist group.

Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of assigned work area.

Organizes and maintains area or responsibility.

Responsible to meet/beat budget developed for F&M costs per project
Own the final results of the manufacturing process and provide the necessary planning and guidance to the Mach/Fab SCM and BU Teams required to achieve results

What to know coming in

Minimum Education: High school graduate or equivalent, college preferred.
Minimum Experience: 3 to 5 years related experience.
Evidence of strong Leadership, coaching, mentoring skills.
Must have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
Must be able to multitask in an environment where priorities are fluid.
Task-driven and does not require oversight, but enjoys collaboration.
